25 yrs of shipped software, from firmware to the web

Services

The work sits where money, rules, and software meet.

  1. Financial calculation engines

Retirement projections, benefits eligibility, insurance costs, compounding schedules. Deterministic engines with the rules written down, the edge cases tested, and the arithmetic reproducible to the last bit.

  2. Legacy modernization

The desktop program your business actually runs on — VB, .NET, Access, a heroic spreadsheet — rebuilt as a secure web application. Same results, proven, before anything is switched over.

  3. Business software

The systems that run a firm day to day: client management, reporting, document archives, audit trails, and the automation between them. Built to be operated, backed up, and handed off.

  4. Verification & validation

Independent re-computation against a golden baseline, byte-level output comparison, structural test coverage — and a written report a reviewer can follow. Proof, not promises.

Case study — RetireGov

Federal retirement analysis, from desktop to web

A civil-service benefits advisory firm ran its practice on a decade-old Windows application: thousands of client records, a dense federal-retirement calculation engine, and one PC it all lived on. Farafoot rebuilt it as a secure web application on the firm’s own hosting — same math, to the bit.

Every one of 2,022 client analyses was recomputed and compared byte-for-byte against the original engine: 318,144 values, zero discrepancies. The firm’s agents now work from any browser, behind modern authentication, with role-based access, audit logging, nightly off-site backups, and automated tests gating every deploy.

Approach

The same discipline, whatever the project.

  1. Understand the numbers first

Read the existing code, the math, and the rules before proposing anything. The evaluation is written down and it’s yours to keep, whoever does the work.

  2. Build with a safety net

Golden baselines before changes, automated tests on every release, staged deploys with instant rollback. Boring on purpose.

  3. Prove it

Verification runs with every value compared, change reports before anything ships, and documentation a future maintainer — or an auditor — can follow.
